Film Story

Having one of my smooth jazz compositions featured as background music in the acclaimed French-Canadian film Mommy was both an unexpected honor and a deeply meaningful milestone. Directed by Xavier Dolan, a prodigious talent known for his emotionally charged and visually distinctive films, Mommy premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Jury Prize and went on to receive international acclaim. The film stars Anne Dorval, Antoine Olivier Pilon, and Suzanne Clément, delivering powerful performances in a raw and unconventional story about a widowed mother raising her troubled teenage son. To have my music woven into such a poignant and artistically daring narrative was not only affirming creatively, but also a testament to how music can transcend language and culture to support powerful storytelling. Being part of a project that resonated with audiences and critics worldwide reinforced for me the importance of authenticity in both music and film.
