Dream On

For an earlier tour, I was asked to do a string arrangement for Josh Groban‘s band of the Aerosmith song, “Dream On.” Months later, they requested an arrangement with full orchestra. I’ve always loved that tune, but it’s one that I had never really played out anywhere and never had the chance to “visit” it. I did, however, remember the quintessential arrangement that Michael Kamen had done of it for Aerosmith in the early days of MTV. Here’s a clip of Josh’s band performing the arrangement on their July 4th concert series at the Hollywood Bowl with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Features the always brilliant Christian Hebel, and Tariqh Akoni.
